Nafeesa Kabir

Nafeesa Kabir has been teaching for three years at GEMS Our Own Indian School, Dubai. She holds a Master’s degree in English and a Bachelor’s degree in Education. Across her fifteen years of teaching, Nafeesa has worked in a number of schools amassing memorable classroom experiences. She is a language enthusiast and takes a deep interest in learning the nuances of a language. Before moving to Dubai, Nafeesa was  working in St. Columba’s School, New Delhi, as a Senior Secondary English teacher. The extensive experience there equipped her with the necessary skills and proficiency to begin her journey at OIS, where her career has seen her take on challenging roles and responsibilities in myriad ways.

In an institution that provides the opportunity to constantly adapt and change, her role as the Head of the Department of English seems worthwhile to her. Mentoring- both the receiving and sharing of it- are important to Nafeesa and she believes in the great role that individuals play in helping each other in their professional ascent. She is passionate about teaching and believes that the love of the subject inspires a student to learn and engage more deeply in it. It is her ardent desire to bring about a transformative change in the lives of her students to help them lead a more purposeful and meaningful life in the future.
